Ken calls for ECOWAS beyond help

Finance Minister Kenneth Ofori Atta at the inaugural meeting of the Association of West African Auditors General called for help to create an ECOWAS beyond aid.

He added that the problem of illicit financial flows on the continent was the loss of about 50 to 70 billion dollars a year, which is more than the aid provided to Africa by the countries Western.

"We need to be able to build a trusting society by effectively leveraging our resources to create a society of social justice and access for all, and we have the resources to do it. make sure that the resources are well used, "he hinted.

The President of the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States, Mr. Jean-Claude Kbadi Brou, was present at the inauguration.

S addressing listeners from different countries of West Africa, said that the performance of the economies depended a lot on the ability to abide by the rules and to comply.

"Every member of ECOWAS is a specific organization, the Auditor General has to follow that and ensure that public funds are well mobilized and well spent," he said.

Speaking on the threats of terrorism and extremism in West Africa, Mr. Jean-Claude Kbadi Brou, said that security had gone from a national problem to a problem regional.

"ECOWAS is working to make sure we have the proper program in place to really deal with this problem effectively," he said.
