Finance Minister-designate Ken Ofori-Atta flew to the United States of America for a post-Covid-19 medical examination on Sunday.
A statement from the Ministry of Finance said: “After recovering from Covid-19 last December, Mr. Ofori-Atta has had medical complications that doctors advise, require additional interventions that are currently not available in Ghana . “
According to the statement, the president’s representative at the Department of Finance “will travel to the United States for a special medical examination.”
The finance minister-designate is due to appear before Parliament’s appointments committee on Tuesday, February 16 for review.
The Ministry of Finance said: “The leadership of Parliament has been duly informed of a new date to be set upon his return.”
He is expected to return to Ghana in two weeks.
