Kennedy Agyapong prays Baako to quash his libel lawsuit

– Kweku Baako sued the deputy of Assin Central in the High Court of Accra for damages in the amount of 25 million GH ¢ for defamation

The member of the Assin Central Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, would negotiate with Abdul Malik -Kwaku Baako for an amicable settlement in the course of an action for defamation brought against the legislator.

Mr. Baako revealed that the maverick legislator had begged him to withdraw the court case.

The veteran journalist made this revelation by speaking on Metro TV's Good Morning Ghana program.

"There were attempts to settle amicably at their initiative. Money is not the problem, but I have already gone to the dock and, given my testimony, he came to do his, but he was truncated because the judge adjourned his proceedings ."Said Mr. Baako.

"She wanted to deal with other companies, but when we came back the next day, we took the initiative to seek an amicable settlement."

Mr. Baako dragged the legislator to court and prosecuted him for calling him a "very nasty man."

"You [referring to the plaintiff], Anas and your lawyer, yeah, they're real bad guys [referring to the plaintiff and Anas] … Kweku Baako will collapse if the NPP government allowed it. Did you see what he started with Charlotte Osei …?"Mr. Agyapong said on Oman FM.

"I said that he's not a saint. Kweku Baako is not a saint. He's naughty … very naughty … he's a very nasty guy, " he added in a separate interview.

Therefore, Mr. Baako claims damages in the amount of GH ¢ 25 million, while requesting the court to order the legislature to retract and apologize for his defamatory remarks.

The editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide said some elements of Mr. Agyapong's counter were totally unacceptable.

"We tried three times and I set up terms of settlement. I offer him terms of settlement but he came back with a counter of small element that I find unacceptable … I find an element of his counter completely unacceptable.

"The judge gave us Monday, July 22 to reach a settlement. If we go there and we can not, she is informed that she will settle the case on July 31 before the courts go on vacation. " he added.
