Rome Fiumicino is expected to host another major sinking this summer, while Kenya Airways plans to launch 787 direct flights to Nairobi from Nairobi in June, four times a week.

Kenya Airways had already operated from Fiumicino until June 2012 and, with the resumption of flights to Italy, the airlines served by SkyTeam now serve five to twenty-five and fifty-five worldwide.

With this new service, Kenya Airways will offer excellent connections between Rome and its 43 destinations in Africa via its Nairobi hub.

"The addition of flights from Rome will be well received by our customers travelers and business travelers traveling to Kenya for tourism and business.

"Kenya is a melting pot of diverse cultures with a multitude of activities and destinations. The road offers tremendous opportunities for several industries, such as the hotel and tourism industry in Kenya, to expand their business, "said Sebastian Mikosz, managing director of Kenya Airways Group.

According to data from the S19 program, Kenya Airways becomes the 10th airline to serve Africa from the airport of the Italian capital, joining existing airlines including Alitalia, Air Arabia, Morocco, Tunisair and Neos.

This summer, Fiumicino will now offer direct flights to 15 destinations on the continent, including cities from countries such as Algeria, Ethiopia, Cape Verde and South Africa.

As a result of this new operation, the Italian airport will offer nearly 20,000 seats a week to its African destinations this summer.
