MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Indian Wells champion Bianca Andreescu defeated Angelique Kerber for the second time in a week, and the result left a disastrous feeling.

Andreescu, 18, reached the fourth round of the Miami Open, winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 in a match that ended early Sunday.

Andreescu took a medical break after seven games to receive a right arm treatment.

"The greatest queen of the drama of all time," Kerber told Andreescu, while offering only a sudden handshake at the end of the match.

The Canadian beat Kerber in the Indian Wells final for her first career title.

Kerber was ranked eighth in Miami, while Andreescu was not sown. The win was Andreescu's 12th place in 2019 against a top-50 player. She had only one before this year.
