On his Fatman Beyond show, Kevin Smith revealed details about Zack Snyder's initial plan for the Justice League and Darkseid before leaving the project.

After losing his daughter to suicide, Zack Snyder left Justice League During the post-production phase, Warner Bros. began making significant changes to the film, under the supervision of Joss Whedon, who oversees the covers and the new direction. Even though we will never see Zack Snyder's original plan for Justice League and later, filmmaker Kevin Smith provided information about what Snyder initially envisioned, namely, that he had learned from people who had worked on the film and had seen Jim Lee's montage boards for three films.
According to Kevin Smith, Justice League would have ended with a boom tube opening and Darkseid revealing himself to the titular team. The sequel would have followed the team of heroes venturing to Apokolips and would involve the Green Lantern Corps, with a source claiming that green lights had been projected on Jeremy Irons during the famous cleared Justice League scene (in which Alfred meets a mysterious individual in the Batcave) to indicate that he was talking with a green lantern.
Kevin Smith then revealed the second Justice League The movie would have concluded with Darkseid defeating our heroes and heading to Earth, setting up a third film making the Knightmare sequence a reality. The third Justice League the film would resume where the second film was stopped while the heroes were one last time against Darkseid.

It seems like it was yesterday when the beginning of the New Year was upon us, and the advent of so many superhero movies striking the theaters seemed a dream come true for every fanboy and every fangirl.
