Keychains and garage door openers mysteriously stop working

North Olmsted, Ohio – Electronic key chains and garage door openers have mysteriously ceased to work in an Ohio neighborhood; Municipal officials and utility teams are struggling to understand what is happening.

Locals said the devices stopped working weeks ago and they still did not know why. Visitors also have problems when they come to the neighborhood.

"There is brand new cars that have a keyless entry, so some can not get into their car period," Chris says Glbadburn with the North Olmsted Municipal Council.

"It makes you curious to know what causes it, and do we have to worry … is this frequency harmful to our health?" Branchick.

First Energy was in the neighborhood Thursday with sophisticated equipment to try to identify the source of the problem. If that does not work, the plan is to go door-to-door to try to solve it.

City Councilor Glbadburn says that if someone does it intentionally, it is a crime. Some criminals use scrambling equipment to try to turn off alarms before interfering, but Glbadburn do not think that's the case here.
