The 101 young Ghanaian entrepreneurs selected to participate in the AgriTech 2019 Challenge, managed by the Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC), are midway through their 12-day market research tour.

Designed to launch their intensive 10-month journey, the market research tour will take them to six regions of Ghana where they will discover the challenges facing the country's agricultural sector.

Entering into the regions of Greater Accra, East, Volta, Ashanti, Brong-Ahafo and Northern Ghana, the market research tour makes part of the KIC program.

It exposes the future "AgriTechies" to the main actors of the entire agricultural value chain, from agricultural practices to packaging, through sales, etc.

During this tour, AgriTechies, from across Ghana, will engage directly with farmers and regional agribusinesses to learn about the challenges faced by those involved.

At the same time, they will collect valuable information and contributions from the people they meet, which will be the future cornerstone of business development.

Starting with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, participants will also visit 25 other institutions and agro-industries specializing in cash crop production, animal husbandry, processing, irrigation, packaging and Greenhouse cultivation to understand broader government and commercial practices.

Since the launch of the AgriTech Challenge three years ago, 11 companies, each providing solutions to the key challenges of the value chain, have been created.

Specialized training, capacity building and mentoring were also provided to more than 300 young men and women.

Joe Mensah, Vice President and National Director of Kosmos Energy, said: "Everyone at the Kosmos Innovation Center looks forward to the success of its new season.

This year, the program has once again attracted another cohort of very talented people, pbadionate about innovation and who see a real business opportunity to meet the challenges of the agricultural sector of our country. "

"We are delighted to play our part by helping ambitious small businesses grow sustainably and by encouraging young entrepreneurs to realize their true potential."
