A high court in Accra has released four people awaiting trial for the kidnapping of two Canadian women.

The deposit is 200,000 ¢ each with two bonds, one to be justified.

They must also report to Kumasi Central Police Station every Monday.

The four released on bail are Abdul Nasir, Seidu Abubakari aka Mba, Safianu Abubakari, Abdul Rahman Suleiman aka Worfa.

Their lawyers argued that they would report to the court whenever they needed it and that they would remain innocent until proven otherwise.

State prosecutors did not oppose the application for bail, except to request the establishment of "appropriate conditions".

Judge George Buadi granted the request, while ordering that the remaining four people awaiting trial be kept at BNI headquarters.

The hearing continues on August 12th.
