Accra, August 4, GNA – Children in Tourism (KIT)
Ghana, a tourism club in partnership with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has
crowned the first junior tourism ambbadador 2019 to lead the promotion of
the culture, values and tourism of the nation by children.
Ambbadador Peggy Osei Agyeman from May
Jingle Bells Basic School's mission is to defend the nation
and its cultural values.
Marzuk Fuseini from the Anta Academy was born
first finalist, Angela Dankwa of Starlet Preparatory School has been awarded
second runner-up and Johan Fairbanks of the Atomic Hills Presbyterian School as a
third finalist.
The ambbadador was chosen from a quiz
competition organized for children, each representing the 16 regions on themes
like "Knowing Ghana / Summary on Tourism Potentials in Each Region,
identify a unique cultural activity in each region and the role of the candidate
vision for the 2019/20 junior tourism ambbadadors competition. "
The children who participated in the contest,
which was part of the country's "year of return" celebration, were
between six and 14 years old.
The event was adorned with performances of
children as recitals about Ghana's tourism potential, inspirational songs
songs, cultural dances, choreography, cadet parade, recitals
Sanitation and the show "Wear Ghana".
Mr. Akwasi Agyemang, Executive Director
The Greater Toronto Area Officer in an address delivered on his behalf congratulated Kids in
Tourism to organize the contest so that children show the level of their
patriotism for Ghanaian culture.
He encouraged the private sector to obtain
participate in programs showcasing the rich culture of the country to promote
tourism.
He appreciated school teachers who had
tourism clubs for their contribution to the promotion of culture and
tourism, saying, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture as well as the GTA
would continue to support their agenda.
Ms. Jasmine Anane, 11-year-old student of
the Ghana International School and a brand ambbadador for children in tourism
Ghana, said the Club at present, has more than 5,800 children members.

The club's vision, she said, was to
children to accept the rich culture of the country, to appreciate its uniqueness
tourist attractions and contribute to the development of tourism in Ghana and
economy by participating in its various activities.
"KIT Ghana has launched programs such as
Know Ghana (quizzes and debates), sanitation programs, Wear Ghana / Culture
Day in the Schools, Excursions in various tourist sites of Ghana, Resources
Meetings, participation in cultural festivals outside of Ghana and the annual Kids Festival
Tourism Trade Shows, "she said.
Ms. Jasmine revealed that
"Annual Children's Fair in Tourism" in collaboration with the Year of Return
will be held from 29 to 30 November, with other children from the diaspora at the
Efua Sutherland Children's Park.
Mr Thomas Okyere, Honorary Member of Botswana
Consul said that these cultural promotion programs have helped attract tourists to
generate revenue for a state.
He said that it also helps children to identify
who they really were, from where they came from and enjoyed what they had.
"Children are great influencers of tourism
because they influence their parents with the choice of places that they want
visit and influence the places they visit because they can recommend
these places to others, "he said.
The KIT was launched on February 12, 2015 and
officially launched on 12 December 2019 in Accra.
The goal of KIT Ghana is to educate young people
help them develop their creativity, expose and inculcate the rich
tourism and cultural resources of Ghana and
