Kieran Trippier was banned for 10 weeks from all football and soccer-related activity and fined £ 70,000 for violations of the Federation’s betting rules.
The suspension of the England right-back and Atletico Madrid is effective immediately after an investigation by an independent regulatory commission.
Tripper has denied the charges, first brought against him in May.
An FA spokesperson said: ‘Kieran Trippier was suspended for 10 weeks and fined £ 70,000 for misconduct in relation to violations of the FA’s betting rules.
The Atletico Madrid defender has denied seven alleged violations of FA rule E8 (1) (b), which allegedly took place in July 2019, and requested a personal hearing.
“An independent regulatory commission has been appointed to hear the case, with four of the alleged violations found to be true and three dismissed at a subsequent personal hearing.
“The written reasons of the Independent Regulatory Commission for its decisions and the associated sanction will be published in due course.
“The suspension, which includes all football and soccer related activities, is effective worldwide from today (Wednesday 23 December 2020) following a request to FIFA.”
Trippier’s suspension will last until February 28, 2021
Trippier’s ban will rule him out of at least 14 appearances for Atletico, including their first leg of the last 16 Champions League first leg against Chelsea on February 23.
The offenses were said to have taken place in July 2019 when the full-back moved to Atletico from Tottenham for a fee of around £ 20million.
His scheduled return date of March 1, 2021 is subject to any appeal Trippier may make and any subsequent appeal from the FA if the suspension is changed.
