The Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu, has instructed the Central Region Police Command to speed up investigations into a shooting in Kasoa that resulted in the death of Richard Aheheto.

According to the first police report, the late Richard Aheheto was part of a mob that badaulted and attempted to disarm an officer at Akweley in Kasoa over the weekend.

The officer was part of a patrol team that had been sent to respond to a call of distress attacks targeting some residents at a hairdressing graduation ceremony in the neighborhoods of 8:30 pm Sunday, March 31, 2018.

According to a press release from the Ghana Police Service, the patrol team that was attacked with stones and other objects arrested two suspects at the scene.

"During his arrest, the crowd badaulted a police officer who had been seriously injured and lost consciousness. While the police officer was badaulted, others attempted to disarm him, resulting in a shot fired at the late Richard Aheheto, who allegedly wore the rifle muzzle at the time. ".

The statement badured that thorough investigations would be conducted to bring the authors to the pound.
