Kim Kardashian West visited convicted murderer Kevin Cooper on death row and said that she "hoped to be able to release him."

The 38-year-old star, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, is studying law and has become a leading advocate for judicial reform.

The most recent case of the reality TV star is Kevin Cooper, sentenced to death in 1983 after being convicted of four murders.

Kim visited the 61-year-old sentenced to death in the state prison in San Quentin, California, and said she was seeking to prove her innocence.

She documented the visit on Twitter, posing with Cooper, before revealing his thoughts on his crimes.

She wrote: "I had a touching meeting with Kevin Cooper yesterday in San Quentin's death row.

"I found him thoughtful and honest and I believe he's innocent of the crimes for which he was sentenced."

Kim was in a dark mood and wore a black outfit for the meeting while Cooper wore a blue top.

She thanked California Governor Gavin Newsom for stopping executions in California, where the death penalty is legal.

Kim said, "I hope Kevin will be exonerated because DNA tests have now been ordered for Kevin's case and I am grateful to Governor Newsom for ending the death penalty in California."

According to the US website TMZ, the US magazine Showbiz, Cooper has been found guilty of murdering a husband and wife, their 10-year-old daughter and their 11-year-old neighbor.

Last year, Kim asked Jerry Brown, then governor of California, to review Cooper's case, citing evidence.

DNA tests have been ordered and results are pending.

This is not the first case that interests him. Kim played a crucial role in the case of grandmother Alice Marie Johnson, whose life imprisonment for drug offense was commuted by Donald Trump last year.
