Kissi Agyebeng appears in court on Monday over Mahama Ayariga’s tax evasion case

Special prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng will be in court on Monday, October 11, 2021, for the first time since he started working on Monday, August 9, 2021, as a new SP.

Mr. Agyebeng will be in Finance Court 2 for the tax evasion case against Bawku Central MP, Mr. Mahama Ayariga.

Former special prosecutor Martin ABK Amidu dragged the deputy to court while he was in the special prosecutor’s office on two different issues.

The MP was accused of violating procurement processes in the purchase of certain ambulances for his constituency and of tax evasion in importing certain “luxury” vehicles.

Although he was subsequently tried along with six other people, Mr. Mahama Ayariga was subsequently acquitted and released on Friday May 7th.

Judge Afia Serwaah Asare-Botwe, who presided over the case before the High Court in Accra, acquitted and acquitted the seven people after confirming the absence of a complaint filed by defense lawyers.

With a new special prosecutor in office, the case has been reopened and the trial will resume tomorrow.

The central deputy of Bawku is accused of abusing his office after authorizing three Toyota V8 vehicles without paying tax.

In addition, he is being prosecuted for illegally transferring currency from Ghana to Dubai without having the required license to undertake such a transaction.

The Special Prosecutor, Mr. Kissi Agyebeng will be present at Financial Court 2 tomorrow for the case.
