C. K Tedam died Thursday night at his home
Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Council, MCK. Tedam is dead, family sources have revealed at MyNewsGh.com.
MCK Tedem, a founding member of the NPP and former member of the State Council, died asleep at his home in Accra on Thursday night, said the portal.
The 94-year-old was among the first political backers in the Northern Territories of the day.
C. K. Tedam was first elected to Parliament as an independent candidate in 1954. He was a founding member of the Northern People's Party. He ran and won another election in Parliament in 1956 under the influence of the Northern People's Party (NPP). He also served as Minister of Local Government under the Supreme Military Council (Ghana).
K. Tedam was a member of the State Council under John Kufuor.
He is a founding member of the New Patriotic Party. He became chairman of the party's elders council during the opposition period of the NPP after 2008. In May 2015, he was chairman of the board.
He was the son of Pagapio Tedam and the brother of Pagapio Awampaga.
Before entering parliament, C.K. Tedam had been a teacher. It comes however from a political party. His niece, Catherine Tedam, was elected in the legislative elections and represented the constituency of Chiana Paga as a member of parliament under the administration of Kofi Abrefa Busia.
He was married to Winifred Tedam, daughter and sister of Chiefs J.K. Karbo and Abeifa Karbo of Lawra. C. K. Tedam has six children. He is Catholic and Kasena by tribe.
