Jurgen Klopp has declared his support for Tottenham's boss, Mauricio Pochettino, following his recent comments.
Pochettino who said this week that placing in the top four was more important than winning trophies for North London club – a statement that has been criticized.
But at today's press conference, before the Liverpool match against Leicester, Klopp expressed sympathy for his counterpart.
"We need money to improve a football team, we can not change it. This is not the only way, but it's a great thing, "Klopp said.
"I know that people probably did not like what Pochettino said, but it's so much easier to watch from outside, but from the club's point of view, the best competition to win is the Premier League, because you are in the top four and one thing.
"The other cup competitions you want to win too, but they do not guarantee you the money for next year. That's why the top four is so important.
"In a club like Liverpool, you always have to do everything, and I think the best thing we can see is that we are still turning around the decisive things.
"For a few years, it was not like that, now it's positive. But in the end, it is very important that you are also in the Champions League next year. "
Meanwhile, Klopp is waiting to face Manchester City until the end of the title, no matter who will have the advantage in the schedule.
This week, for the first time since December 15, when Pep Guardiola's team beat Everton and the Reds defeated Manchester United the next day, City will play a league match before their rivals.
That will continue for the next two matches with Arsenal, which will host City on Sunday, while Liverpool will go to West Ham the next day, and play a modified match at Everton next Wednesday.
"For me, no difference. If we win the game, we are not interested in other results. How can we change the approach? He said before Leicester's visit.
"I have said it many times, I expect City to win every game. It makes sense that you think like that. I'm waiting for City to beat Newcastle (played 24 hours before the send-off from Liverpool), but I will watch it anyway because we are also playing in Newcastle.
"I can only speak for myself, but I do not stay in front of the television and do not think (bading) when they score goals or anything.
"I really believe that you have to do your own work, your own work if you want to have something.
"Do not focus on other teams, it will not help you. I think I'll win a point before tomorrow's game and that does not bother me. "
Klopp hopes that key defender Virgil Van Dijk will be fit enough to face the Foxes.
