Klopp: Fans are our source of energy – gives us back the power

Jürgen Klopp wants Liverpool to connect to his "source of energy" at Anfield – the local crowd – when he attacks Crystal Palace this afternoon.

The Eagles were the last team to beat the Reds at the Premier League Stadium, 21 months ago and 31 games.

But Klopp is ready for a tough test against Roy Hodgson's team and not just because of the warning served by his 3-2 victory in Manchester City last month.

"Trust me when I say that it's a match as difficult as possible," writes the manager in his account of the day.

"People will probably have talked extensively about their recent victory in Manchester as a warning, and yes, that's true. But focusing only on that does not take into account the fact that they have been exceptionally hard to beat since Roy's arrival – last season and the rest.

"They have players of the highest quality who embrace a stage like this. We must be ready, we must be at our best, we must be hungry and be greedy, otherwise we will not get the desired result, it is as simple as that.

"[There have been] the challenges we faced with injuries, but the players' reaction to these setbacks only reinforced my admiration for them as a group.

"They have demonstrated in Brighton, as a collective, that they will adapt and do everything that allows the team to outpace its competitors. This is the only way to succeed.

"It's a group that" understands "it in abundance. We fight and fight for each other and the fans at all times – for our club. We are doing everything in our power to ensure that the result achieved by all Liverpool badociates is first, second, third and only priority.

"Attitude and attention remain at the highest level at Melwood and this will be our greatest badet as we progress through the season. This will help us in all circumstances, especially when inevitable knocks and setbacks will occur. When we are stunned, we rise up, that's our way of doing things.

"This is also evident with the fans and the relationship they have with the team. In our last home game against Arsenal, we fell behind and Anfield's home side reaction was as perfect as any manager, coach or player could have hoped for. We'll need it again, I'm sure of it.

"The fans are our source of energy and I am sure that today they will give us even more power – they have never let us down."
