The scouts of Liverpool would have been invited to closely watch the midfielder of Sporting Lisbon Idrissa Doumbia during the next season, in the prospect of future success for the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp reportedly had discussions with his surveillance network on Doumbia after impressing the Liverpool boss during a friendly match this week.
The Reds drew 2-2 with the Primeira Liga team on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium in New York, Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum scored the mark.
Bruno Fernandes – another name related to the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United – put alongside Wendel for Sporting, which have always been impressive.
But it seems Klopp was surprised by 21-year-old midfielder Doumbia, who played a deeper role in midfield during Wednesday's draw.
according to Record, the Liverpool The boss has subsequently added the Ivorian to his transfer list, and even if it is deemed "unlikely" to change places, the newspaper believes it could become a target for Liverpool in the near future.
Doumbia has not yet gained international recognition with Ivory Coast, but he is predicted for great things and the reported interest of Liverpoool for the star will only strengthen his profile.
Klopp confessed earlier this week that Liverpool had not finished the transfer market this summer. – but it's hard to add quality players.
"We are still looking for it, but it will not be the (larger) CFL transfer window," said Klopp. "It will be just a transfer window.
"We'll see what we do and if we have not done anything by the end, it will be for a variety of reasons.
"It's about using this team. In the transfer window, you need to build a team with which you think you want to go in the season. But I already have this team.
"If we can bring somebody else to make the process even better, we'll see. But otherwise, this team is already there. And again, we will have to find solutions at different times. "
