Ronald Koeman is said to continue to be Barcelona boss next season after meeting with President Joan Laporta to discuss his future on Tuesday.
TV3 reports that a “formal” meeting took place at the Ciutat Esportiva between Koeman and the new president with Vice-President Rafael Yuste, Director of Football Mateu Alemany and Technical Secretary Ramon Planes also present.
The trio told Koeman they were “completely satisfied and confident” in his job and “guaranteed” that he will be in charge of the team next season and see his contract.
There was some uncertainty over Koeman earlier this season, after a poor start, but the team’s improved form and the current unbeaten run appear to have done enough to impress Laporta.
Koeman’s drive to trust the youngsters this season and give plenty of playing time to players like Ilaix Moriba, Oscar Mingueza, Pedri, Ronald Araujo and Sergino Dest has certainly gone well.
The result means Koeman can relax a bit and start thinking about next season. The report adds that free agents such as Memphis Depay, Wijnaldum and Eric Garcia remain on the table and Koeman wants to have the final say on transfers.
