A group called Dagbon Forum and a group of Ghanaians on social media condemned the series of questions of award-winning journalist Komla Klutse in an interview with Ya-Naa Naa Abukari Mahama II, described as "disrespectful".
In a statement issued following the resumption of the interview, the group asks Komla Klutse to apologize unreservedly to Dagbon and the king.
"The Dagbon Forum unequivocally condemns the total lack of respect shown by TV3's Komla Klutse in her interview of Ya Naa Abukari II at Gbewaa Palace after the historic and successful coronation that took place on Saturday, January 26, 2019.
Komla repeatedly asked the king if he had a taste for finesse, as shown by his reaction when he saw the Jaguar car, offered by the government, for the first time. He went further into the king's hand, focusing on the Rolex watch he wore, repeating again the question of his love for finesse.
Komla Klutse's action was unprofessional, immature and showed a total lack of respect for Ya Naa, with respect to her status, age and circumstances.
We demand apologies and removal of offensive images from all media.
We sincerely hope that future interactions of journalists with the King of Dagbon will be more circumspect and respectful, "said their statement.
Although MyNewsGh.com is reliably informed that the King himself is not disturbed by this development, social media users have their own minds.
In the same vein, Salam Mustapha, former NPP Deputy National Organizer for Youth, and other well-meaning Northerners joined the calls for an apology.
