The Kotoka International Airport
The Ministry of Aviation has denied reports that it intends to privatize or sell the country's only international airport, Kotoka International Airport.
According to the ministry, what has been "leaked" to the public, these are the first internal considerations of a possible management model of Kotoka International Airport in order to improve its value, performance and its international competitiveness.
"The Ministry does not intend to recommend anything, any more than the Government of Ghana plans to authorize the privatization or sale of Kotoka International Airport" said the ministry's public affairs unit in a press release dated April 17.

The Ministry of Aviation has noted that initial internal considerations regarding a possible Kotoka International Airport management model to enhance its value, performance and international competitiveness have been leaked and misinterpreted by the Kotoka International Airport. the Ghanaian government in its intention to privatize or sell the Kotoka International Airport.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Ministry of Aviation wishes to inform the general public that:
The Ministry has no intention of recommending it any more than the Government of Ghana plans to authorize the privatization or sale of Kotoka International Airport.
The Cabinet was not solicited, nor did the Ministry of Aviation submit a Cabinet Memorandum recommending the approval of the privatization or sale of Kotoka International Airport.
In fact, the ministry is considering a partnership offer with Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) to provide management services to manage the financial and operational functions required for the development of GACL.
The Honorable Minister of Industry has not yet been properly informed of the best options available in response to the offer, after which the Cabinet may be asked to approve a recommended option, if any.
Broader consultation with key sector stakeholders will be part of internal considerations in due course if an appropriate option is agreed
The general public is urged not to take into account news of the privatization or sale of Kotoka International Airport.
The ministry is committed to protecting the badets of all institutions under its jurisdiction, including GACL, while strengthening their value for the aviation sector improvement.
The ministry wishes to recall that industry best management practices will be at the center of all its decisions and actions at all times.
