Midfielder Vante Asante Kotoko, Jordan Opoku, revealed the secret of his career.
He says he's still playing high-level football at thirty-one because he takes very good care of him. More importantly, the agile-footed attacking midfielder, who survived the team's current shake-up, much to the surprise of some fans and experts, who thought he was old and done, said that nature supported.
Jordan insisted that he had not changed his age. He made his third return to Kotoko in 2018, after joining the club in 2006 and leaving in 2011 before his second stint between 2013 and 2015. At age 31, the creative midfielder has his dribbling skills and creativity earned him tons of admirers.
He is still influential in the matches as he has been in his previous two stints. The Opoku, very religious, was right in God's blessings while he was explaining the reasons he was active so far.
"Everything is about discipline, but the most important of all is God, the creator of heaven and earth," Jordan told Kotoko Express.
"Do not believe anything that someone says. Just believe and listen to the instructions of the God you serve and have inside of you. That's what supported me, "he added.
"No, not at all," replied Jordan Opoku to the question of whether he was worried about hearing people describe him as old and finished. "This is not the case because people must know each other and understand the mechanism of their bodies. One must know what is good for him and do otherwise, do what is good for him and avoid those who are not.
"If you know them, you will always have the strength to move forward. But if you do not, you will always do things anyway, you will hurt your career and blame others. In Ghana, there is always talk of age, there is no player in Ghana who plays with his real age outside of me.
"People should not be surprised that I'm still playing. I play with my real age. I did not even deduct a single year from my age. And I can play one or two years of active football. Everything is about your mentality, and you must have a good heart for people, be disciplined and trust God, "he concluded.
