Small-capacity sports motorcycles are all the rage in India. They offer quite a few impressive advantages as opposed to using large displacement fire-breathing machines. For starters, they won’t kill you if you give the throttle impulsive inputs. They also look really cool and give off a similar aesthetic to their track-oriented counterparts.
Not to mention, these bikes often come with nice, energetic motors that are both fun and manoeuvrable. Finally, entry-level sports motorcycles are generally extremely affordable, both to purchase and to maintain. That said, motorcycles like the KTM RC 200 and Bajaj Pulsar RS200 are favorites among young sportbike enthusiasts in India. So that definitely raises the question: which one is faster? Well, before we get into the thick of it, let’s take a look at these two bikes. It may surprise you that the KTM RC 200 and the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 are in fact related.
Bajaj Auto India assembles the KTM RC 200 as well as a few other KTM motorcycles for the Indian and Asian markets. He was also responsible for the development of the 199cc single-cylinder engine for the RC 200, an engine that bears a strange resemblance to that of the Bajaj Pulsar RS200. With that in mind, which bike is the fastest in a straight line? Lucky for us, we’re about to find out, as Indian motovlogger KSC Vlogs put both bikes to the test in a drag race.
As is the case with most drag races, the racers engaged in a two-in-three showdown. Unsurprisingly, the KTM takes the cake in both laps. In the first round, the KTM makes Bajaj minced meat thanks to its lighter weight and slightly higher power. The second run initially seemed favorable to the RS200, but the KTM RC 200 started to pull away towards the second half of the race, again propelled by slightly more power.
