Former President of the Republic of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor
Former President of the Republic of Ghana John Agyekum Kufuor has been hailed for being a reliable partner in projects aimed at ensuring food security in countries.
The World Food Program (WFP) has recognized Mr. Kufuor’s role in these projects.

The World Food Program (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving and changing lives, providing food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.
Mr. Kufuor has played a number of roles in ensuring that WFP’s goals are met.
For example, on January 24, 2017, it launched the “Zero Hunger” Strategic Review in Ghana. The review, led by Kufour, aims to contribute to the government’s efforts to accelerate efforts to end hunger and food insecurity by 2030, while improving nutrition and promoting sustainable agriculture.
In his speech, he noted that in a recent study on hunger in Ghana, it was estimated that in 2012 alone, hunger cost around six percent of the country’s GDP amounting to GH ¢ 4.6 billion. .
United Nations Resident Coordinator in Ghana Christine Evans-Klock urged world leaders to ensure that all children have sufficient and nutritious food throughout the year.
“Hunger can cost a country dearly. A recent study in Ghana estimates that in 2012 alone, hunger cost about 6% of the country’s GDP, or GH ¢ 4.6 billion.
“This cost arises from the inability to address nutrition, which has debilitating results in terms of lost productivity, reduced academic performance and increased health burden. This loss should not be allowed to continue, ”he said.
