Kumasi residents happy with Akufo-Addo ministerial appointments

Some Kumasi residents have welcomed the ministerial appointments of President Akufo-Addo.

According to them, they are delighted that the Ashanti region has had the highest number to date, in terms of nominations in the president’s second term.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo on Thursday presented a total of 46 names to Parliament for consideration and approval, for ministerial posts during his second term.

Eight of the candidates are from the Ashanti region.

Among them are Mr. Albert Kan Dapaah, Minister-designate for National Security, Mr. Allan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng, Minister-designate of Trade and Industry, Mr. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, Minister-designate for Parliamentary Affairs and Mr. Yaw Osei Adutwum , designated minister of education.

The others are Ms. Cecilia Abenaa Dapaah, Minister Designate of Water Resources and Sanitation, Mr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Minister Designate of Energy, Mr. Francis Asenso Boakye, Minister Designate of Public Works and Housing and Mr. Simon Osei Mensah, regional minister designate Ashanti.

Residents who spoke to Ghana’s news agency in Kumasi praised the president for recognizing the contribution of the Ashanti region in his landslide victory in the December 2020 elections.

They also congratulated the President for reducing the number of ministers during his second term.

Ms Veronica Amoah said that retaining Mr Osei Mensah as regional minister and raising Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum as minister of education was the best the president could do.

“It is because these two gentlemen had worked hard in their various portfolios as ministers.”

Mr. Simon Osei Mensah is a diligent minister, this is why he was selected as regional minister of Ashanti, I hope that he will continue his good work to develop the city of Kumasi and its surroundings ”, he added. she pointed out.

She added that even though Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh was no longer the Minister of Education, she was confident he would distinguish himself in his new area of ​​service as Minister of Energy.

Mr Adom Patrick, also a trader, added that he had hope in the appointed ministers and prayed that they would work hard to help the president achieve his vision over the next four years.

He said he was delighted that Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum had been elevated to the post of Minister of Education.

Mr Adom hoped that the nominated candidates, once appointed by parliament, would work hard to help the president improve the living conditions of all Ghanaians during his second term.
