As we continue to badyze the Star Trek: Discovery Opening of season 2 and work on the release of all our interviews of the first of the red carpet (with others coming!), We take a break to catch up with some others Discovery news and pleasure that has come since the creation of "Brother". So join us and jump into the first Disco Bits of season two.
Kurtzman connects Burnham, Spock and the red angel
The great mystery of the second season of Star Trek: Discovery plays on a big stage, with the seven bursts appearing around the galaxy. Showrunner Alex Kurtzman told The Hollywood Reporter how the "Brother" episode started and how it related to the main character's arc:
"What I like in this opening is that it brings you to the incredible perspective of this bird on our small size in the universe and on the enormity of the cosmos. Burnham will really fight this season with his place in the universe and his goal. Spock does the same thing. "
He also discussed the theme of the second season:
"Initially, it was a conversation about how Trek addressed the issue of [faith] compared to science. In The original series, religion does not exist. Yet faith has always been a major subject in many ways. The idea of this mystery that does not have an answer immediately suggests a presence or strength greater than anything anyone has ever known. It was really intriguing for us. "
And he then linked this to his relationship with Spock:
"It highlights Spock's dilemma at this stage of his life. As we all know, Spock has a very special relationship to logic. And logic does not allow him to deal with the Red Angel. He does not know whether to use logic or emotions to solve the mystery. "
