Antonio Conte and Kwadwo Asamoah at Juventus
Ghanaian midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah will once again work under Antonio Conte after the appointment of the Italian tactician to Inter Milan coaching post.
The former head of Juventus and Chelsea, 49, have largely replaced Luciano Spalletti, who stepped down Thursday after guiding the Nerrazzuri into their second consecutive UEFA Champions League campaign.
"These are his gestures, the looks he gives, the details in which he enters that define Antonio Conte," reads in the statement on the Internet site of Inter. "Since childhood, his life has been devoted to football.
"His pbadion and love for football made it a goal to pursue, which made him a footballer. He sees football as the best way to express oneself, to leave a mark, whether on the field or on the bench.
"Determined and ambitious, Antonio Conte now begins his adventure. Right in front of us, we have two entities with the same goal and the same perspective: to win. Head, heart and legs are the three words that summarize Conte's career.
"Head: He always had clear ideas when he was playing on the field as a midfielder. His coaches were convinced he would continue his career in the dugout.
"Heart: this is something he has consistently shown in all his adventures: he always makes sure that his teammates and his players have the sense of belonging necessary to achieve the most important goals.
"Legs: He has always been known for his hard work. Training sessions and matches must be lived to the fullest.
"Hard work and sweat, unity of purpose and identity. Something that the Italian national team posted at the 2016 European Championship. Conté's Italy, which was eliminated on penalties by Germany, delighted and rallied a whole nation. He also left his mark abroad: he won the Premier League in his first season in England.
"Now, the challenge of Antonio Conte is the same as that of the whole Nerazzurri world: keep moving forward and bring Inter to the top of European football."
Asamoah played under Conte at Juventus, where they won titles before the Italian left for Chelsea.
