Abene (E / R), 17 April, GNA – Nana Simpeh Owiredu III, the
Abene Krontihene, stated the core values that led to the annual Kwahu
Easter is being abandoned.
"The Kwahu
Easter is celebrated to foster unity and development, it is a time when we
reunited as a people and strengthen family ties, "he said.
He said, these
days, some of the young people had misinterpreted the entire concept to just merry
doing and presenting bad behavior, which does not reflect the true nature of
the party.
Nana Owiredu
said that when the mobile telecommunications network (MTN) donated a check for 14 000 Gh ¢,
airtime worth 14,000.00 ¢ and drink baskets with a value of 3,000 ¢.00 to the traditional Kwahu council, including the
Heads of Mpreaso, Obomeng and Obo to support this year's celebration
Easter.
He expressed
worry about some of the dresses that young people wore during the festivities and said
going home for Easter was to "deliberate on the well-being of the people and
have fun, but do not engage in excessive alcohol consumption and feminization. "
Nana Owiredu
uses the media to educate young people to be decent in their activities
during the celebration because whatever they did had an implication on the
Traditional Kwahu Council.
He said the traditional
Council worked with police to fight villains to ensure
Mental Health.
Mr. Peter
Bimpeh, senior director of Southeast MTN's business district, said the
support was to reaffirm the 12 years of mutual relationship between MTN and the
Traditional Kwahu Council.
He said MTN
believed in African culture and was motivated to offer
support for the projection of African heritage.
Mr. Bimpeh said
MTN would organize various social activities throughout the holiday season, such as
as a costume festival in the main streets of Mpreaso and Obomeng, and
health screening for seniors to improve their health.
He said MTN
would be partner of Adom FM to organize the Kwahu Kwanso, a highlife concert, pork
party, mega street bash, kwahu easter games, gospel rock show and easter party
Monday Jam.
Nana Adwoa
Gyemfuah III, Kwahuhemaa, said that all Ghanaians should join the celebrations,
"However, our appeal is that they have to dress decently by coming to the
festivities to represent a good image of the traditional Kwahu region ".
Nana Effah
Opinamang III, Obomenghene, congratulated MTN for the innovation introduced in
telecommunications, such as mobile money services, as well as
its support for development in various sectors of the economy.
