The former president of the Ghana Football Federation, Kwesi Nyantakyi, said he was comforted by the fact that his leader, the Prophet Mohammed, had gone through difficult times.

"It's just by the grace of God that I'm still alive. When my problem arrived, many people came to see me, some lamented but I did not cry, but I had a simple message to them. I told them that whatever happens, it is the will of God.

"As a Muslim, if a calamity falls on you, thank Allah and pray that faith will creep into the storm and recover," he told Muslim friends as he said. They were breaking fast on Sunday night in Nima, a suburb of Accra when he held an iftar.

The former Vice President of CAF said that he was turning to the Quran to find inspiration.

"I am comforted by the fact that our leader and prophet of God has gone through more difficult conditions and witnessed the persecution. Even when he had to live in Mecca, he was crying because he had had to move. But he has fought battles and that's how I see myself. So, if a whole prophet lived this, what would you say to an ordinary person like me, "he said.

Mr Nyantakyi, banned by FIFA from football-related activities due to ethical offenses, is currently not under investigation for financial irregularity, as previously stated.
