Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo is convinced that Kylian Mbappe will not leave the club at the end of the season.
Real Madrid have tried to sign the France international, whose current deal expires in June, during the summer transfer window, but a decision has not materialized.
The Spanish club have made a series of offers for Mbappe and were ready to pay £ 197million for the 22-year-old but walked away after PSG blocked the deal.
However, Leonardo claims PSG have never received a final offer from Real Madrid and is confident Mbappe will choose to extend his stay at Parc des Princes – rather than signing a pre-contract deal with another club in January. .
“The fact that he stays was the only thing that could happen,” Leonardo told the French TV station. Canal Plus.
“We never thought of doing all of this without Kylian. We weren’t happy with Real Madrid’s behavior
“We were clear on the offer they made. It was not enough from our point of view. It was less than what we paid.
“As for their last offer, it never came.
Leonardo added: “I don’t see Kylian leaving at the end of this season.
“Mbappe’s relationship with PSG runs deep. I don’t think anyone here sees the future without him.”
Mbappe has been in impressive form this season, scoring four goals in five games at the start of the campaign, and is set to start the Champions League game on Wednesday at Club Brugge.
Poch: PSG is not yet a team
Paris Saint-Germain have been called the squad to beat in the Champions League since Lionel Messi arrived at the end of the season, but coach Mauricio Pochettino has warned he has yet to transform his brilliant team of players in one team.
PSG have signed Messi as Barcelona free agent to build a formidable attacking trio with Mbappe and Neymar, but they have yet to show what they are fully capable of together.
“We are not a team yet. We are a club which has signed a lot of players this summer. There are big names but we have to transform into a team,” Pochettino said on Tuesday.
“We are a group of players who have to get results. We have the feeling that we (PSG and Chelsea) are the two teams to beat, but Chelsea are starting so this is the team to beat especially after strengthening its workforce. “
