The initiative was implemented in three regions
The Sekyere East District Business Advisory Center (BAC) Branch has begun enrolling local youth in entrepreneurship and financial literacy training programs.
The training, which is part of the National Council of Small Industries (NBSSI) Youth Entrepreneurship and Employability (YEEP) program, aims to help young people gain valuable skills in entrepreneurship and business management. ;business.
Mr. Akwasi Owusu, District Manager, told the Ghana News Agency, at the start of the registration exercise at Effiduase, that the program was supported by the German Society for International Cooperation (GTZ).
He said that young people aged between 18 and 35, mainly returnees, potential migrants and people already active in micro and small enterprises (SMEs), had been targeted to benefit from the training program.
The goal is to help reduce illegal migration, save lives and help young people contribute to the nation-building process.
Mr Owusu said that the registration exercise, which had started on Wednesday with awareness raising and outreach activities, would end on Friday.
He said the initiative was being implemented in three regions: Greater Accra, Ashanti and Brong Ahafo.
Sekyere East, Sekyere Kumawu, Sekyere South, Sekyere Afram Plains, Sekyere Central, Ejis-Sekyedumase, Ejisu, Juaben, Asante Akim South and Asante Akim Central benefit from the program in the Ashanti region.
Owusu said the Kumawu area, consisting of Sekyere East, Sekyere Kumawu and Sekyere Afram Plains, is expected to register 450 youth to benefit from the program.
He stated that a minimum of junior high school certificate was required so that a person could enroll and participate in the training, which would begin on February 25 of this year.
Mr Owusu said that after the training process, some of the trainees would be selected and supported, either in cash or in kind, to start and start their own business.
The goal, he said, is to help reduce poverty, strengthen community prosperity and achieve sustainable development goals.
Mr. Emmanuel Adjei Baafi, President of the Assembly, congratulated NBSSI and GIZ for this initiative, saying it would serve as lifelong help to the population in the face of poverty and unemployment.
Mr. Adu Abrefa Charles, a disabled person from the community of Ntunkumso, who followed the registration process, congratulated the IBC for the initiative and said that his plan was to create a local pharmaceutical store in his community, adding that he had already obtained a license for such an operation.
