This is not a hysteria or a dismissible science at this point. Sleep deprivation may not be the bullet, but it is the one who holds the weapon.
And the problem will not go away. With a 24-hour news cycle, there is always something, something to catch up with, that is delivered to us via devices that emit blue light, disrupting our sleep patterns. We all know it and yet we ignore our stop time remindersand keep pressing until we wake up at 1:00 am We do not understand why our phones are always in our hands.
We are creatures of habit. Even when these habits are self-destructive, they feel impossible to break. But now, tonight, you can begin to change things and get a little more sleep that you always complain about and need more.

Since Casper sent a pair of their new Glow lights, I could not stop playing with them. Glow's gesture-based controls seem to be something that comes out of science fiction. You turn it around to turn it on or off, rotate it on any surface (not just its wireless charging base) to adjust the intensity of the light (and if the glow is part of a paired together, the other do the same).

Pick it up in the middle of the night, shake it and it will activate at its lowest level of illumination. Then you can walk around your dark house, high-tech lantern in hand. In this mode, you can use the Glow independently of other twin lamps.
If it was all that Glow had done, it would already impress me, but Casper did not just want to create an elegant bedside lamp, he wanted to fight against our lack of clinically harmful sleep.
When you turn on the Glow feature, it darkens over a 45-minute period and changes from a nice, warm-toned reading lamp to an amber color deep enough to cut through the bluest blue lights. I had doubts about the fact that it would do more than annoy me while I was trying to read my book by the light. Imagine my surprise when I realized that by the time reading became a constraint, I was more than ready to go to bed.
Something about the slow gradation and the quality of the light did exactly what it was supposed to do, saying to my brain "Hey, it's getting late, let's pack it up." It is also an excellent night light for young sleepers who do not need light all night, but who do not want to fall asleep without a night.

Full disclosure, I always needed an alarm to wake up the first few days, but I also work with over 20 years of heavy sleep deprivation. It makes it a lot more difficult to ignore your alarm and go back. I hope Casper adds the ability to set individual days in the application. Being awake at 5 am on weekends because you forgot to turn off your light routine is not a pleasant experience.
