LAFC winger and Uruguayan international Brian Rodriguez will join Spain’s second division team UD Almeria on loan, the clubs said on Monday.
The deal will allow Rodriguez to stay until the conclusion of Almeria’s 2020-2021 campaign in May and could become permanent.

“Brian joins Almeria as they push hard for promotion into the Spanish Premier League,” LAFC co-chairman and general manager John Thorrington said. “Since arriving in 2019 Brian has been a focal point of our attack and a huge reason for our success. This decision gives him a great opportunity to play important matches at the highest level of European football.”
Rodriguez, 20, joined the Major League Soccer squad in 2019 from Uruguay Penarol. In his first two seasons in Los Angeles, Rodriguez scored three goals in 25 appearances.
He has three goals in nine appearances for Uruguay, appearing for Light blue in their most recent CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying matches.
With 16 games to go, Almería currently sits third in the LaLiga 2 table with a 14-3-5 record (45 points). At the end of the season, the top two teams will automatically earn a promotion to the Spanish First Division, while a third team will earn a promotion from a knockout phase between the teams that finish from 3rd to 6th.
LAFC also announced the signing of 20-year-old goalkeeper Tomas Romero.
