Leicester is preparing to fight to keep James Maddison despite the Spurs' interest before a possible audition this weekend.
Maddison has been a huge success with five goals and four badists in 23 Premier League games since Norwich's $ 24 million transfer last June.
The shape of the attacking striker has seen its price already more than double and sparked Tottenham 's interest.
The Spurs, who host Leicester on Sunday, want to recruit more local British players.
They plan to attack midfielders should Christian Eriksen leave office, with contact with Dane rising in 2020. The people of North London are long-time admirers of Maddison.
But the Foxes are in no mood to let Maddison, 22, leave this summer after only 12 months, during which he was also recalled by British seniors last October.
Now Sports Mirror understands that discussions are planned to give Maddison a salary increase and maintain it in the long term beyond his current contract until 2023.
Leicester did the same thing last summer when Manchester United replaced Harry Maguire after the World Cup.
But Wes Morgan, the captain of the title, Leicester, was asked to wait for the talks, even though his contract was to end.
Morgan, who turned 35 last month, lost his starting place and his contract expires this summer.
Leicester recently granted new terms to Marc Albrighton, Hamza Choudhury and Daniel Amartey.
But a possible extension of one year for Morgan seems more and more improbable.
The boss Claude Puel said: "I think this is not the moment with the players at the end of their contract.
"We will see later in the season as it is important for the club to stay focused on our next games and make the right decisions for all players."
Morgan has played in 17 of the 25 Premier League games this season.
But he should be back on the bench on Sunday, after Puel sent Jonny Evans and Maguire ahead of him for the previous two games.
City also has many promising young home defenders, such as 22-year-old Caglar Soyuncu and 21-year-old Filip Benkovic, who has been loaned to Celtic.
Last month, City sent his prospects Josh Knight, 21, to Peterborough United, and Darnell Johnson, 20, to Hibernian.
