The sister of Aywaso West Wuogon's former deputy, Emmanuel Agyarko, revealed that his brother was optimistic about the possibility of defeating the cancer he had been diagnosed with.
Difie Agyarko Kusi in his tribute said that the late MP had told him that, apart from his troubling diagnosis, everything was fine for him and that he hoped to be able to return after his operation.
"My sister, I will survive this cancer and live long, my deepest recesses tell me. I'm fine and I'm going to support him, "said Agyarko to his father.
The deceased member's older sister shared this detail of their last conversations during her funeral at the Zimmerman Presbyterian Church of Odumase-Krobo.
Hundreds of people, including President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, gathered at the church to pay their last tribute to the former legislator.
The deceased MP died in November 2018 from cancer of the gallbladder.
Legislature had gone to seek medical care at Yale University Hospital in the United States after being diagnosed at Accra Ridge Hospital.
The late MP was a pharmacist, doctor and politician born on 10 December 1957 in Odumase Krobo, eastern Ghana.
He obtained a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 1982.
Mr. Agyarko has previously held the position of General Manager of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
The older sister of the late MP said her brother was hoping and praying for the operation to proceed smoothly.
Dify Agyarko Kusi said his brother was "an incorrigible eternal optimist" who, despite his fragile state, was ready to fight and stay strong.
The first wife of the late MP Josephine Naana Agyarko, in her tribute, also described her late husband as a responsible man, full of life and joy.
In addition, Naana Agyarko in her tribute noted that women were everywhere at her late husband's home in his youth.
"We were married on January 4, 1986, he was a charming and eloquent young pharmacist. Every woman wanted to be Brother Emmanuel's wife, "she said.
According to her, Mr. Agyarko was not just a husband but a man who was keenly interested in everything that was happening in his family and in his life.
