Up to now, about 34 patients have been hospitalized because of methanol-contaminated alcohol. Of these, 19 died of the contaminated substance. According to News Breaking Live, those killed are between 32 and 72 years old.
Local reports suggest that warnings were subsequently placed on six brands of alcohol.
The marks were Guaro Montano; Aguardiente Barón Red; Aguardiente Timbuka; and Molotov Aguardiente.
The country's Ministry of Health suggested that some suppliers were selling fake products.
However, they said that it was not clear whether this had been done knowingly or unknowingly.

It is also believed that the majority of victims are homeless and alcoholics.
The huge total has increased since the first reports in June.
The Costa Rican authorities reportedly seized 30,000 bottles of alcohol.
Experts are still trying to understand the extent of the poisoning.
Donald Corella, manager of emergency services at Calderon Guardia Hospital in San Jose, said: "The alcohol-fired contained between 30 and 50% methanol."
He also said that four people who had survived had suffered "very serious aftermath".
Side effects experienced as a result of the ingestion of alcoholic beverages include blinds and brain damage.
Other problems encountered were similar to Parkinson's disease, where infected individuals had tremors.
