Lauren Price clinched a resounding points victory over Li Qian to win the Olympic gold medal in the middleweight final in Tokyo.
The 27-year-old Welsh boxer added a second gold to Team GB’s boxing squad as she used her smart foot movement and quick hand speed while beating Chinese Qian by decision unanimous.
Boxing with his back foot, Price soared into the lineup to deliver clean combinations on Qian in the first round.
Price caught Qian in sharp punches in the second, following up on his precise jab with prickly left hands.
After securing a sizable lead, Price then took out Qian with ease as she won a dominating triumph in the third.
Galal Yafai won the first GB boxers gold medal on Saturday, beating Carlo Paalam in the flyweight final.
The boxing team won a record six medals as Pat McCormack and Ben Whittaker took silver, while Frazer Clarke and Karriss Artingstall won bronze.
