As stated, Katie Ledecky was infected with a virus at the 2019 World Championships. She swam in the preliminaries of the 1500, but scraped the final heat the next day. After two days of rest, Ledecky was able to resume the competition in the 4×200 freestyle relay and in the 800 freestyle, where she won the gold medal in a close battle.
