You are never too young to be creative. However, children under 13 are too young to join the popular TikTok video sharing platform. Lego and Universal Music Group have therefore teamed up for a solution suitable for children.
Lego Vidiyo invites children aged 7-10 to a “fun and innovative music video creation experience designed to celebrate and develop children’s creativity and passion for music,” according to a joint press release.
Accessible via a mix of physical elements and figurines, music, augmented reality and a mobile application, the platform offers an “immersive, positive and safe social experience” for all users. Parents and guardians will be happy to hear verified adult consent and external moderation of all uploaded content is required.
“Thanks to this innovative global partnership – with the power of music and play in the service of the early development of creativity – children around the world will be able to express themselves by staging, directing, playing and sharing their music videos, ”Olivier Robert-Murphy, executive vice president of Universal Music Group and Brands, said in a statement. “Lego Vidiyo is a great way for millions of children to discover new music and connect with their favorite artists while learning and connecting through play.”
To get started, choose from a library of contemporary and classic songs, add customizable minifigs, and set up the decor – whether it’s your bedroom, garden, or a brick model; in three seconds your location is scanned and the production countdown begins.

No video clip, however, is complete without special effects. Place up to 12 BeatBits squares on the sweep stage to trigger dance moves and audio and video effects such as confetti showers, x-ray vision, DJ scratching and character breakdancing in a performance of 60 seconds. Recordings can be edited up to shareable clips of five, 10, 15 or 20 seconds.
The first Lego Vidiyo products go on sale in most countries on March 1. Fresh tunes, creative challenges and inspiring content will be added regularly.
“We want to feed the imaginations of the next generation of creatives, providing a new canvas for children to express themselves creatively,” said Julia Goldin, Director of Product and Marketing at Lego Group. “We know kids are always looking for new ways to experiment creatively, and Lego Vidiyo is here to help all music-loving kids unleash their creativity through Lego building and music video production. We can’t wait to see what they come up with. . “
