Former President John Mahama's spokesman asked the president to demonstrate his commitment to fighting corruption by calling on the special prosecutor to sue government appointees.

Joyce Bawa Motgari also asked Martin Alamisi Amidu to keep the public informed of his investigations instead of publishing a list indicating that Mr. Mahama was currently under investigation.

She told Kojo Yankson on Thursday during the AM broadcast, that President Akufo – Addo should recall the special prosecutor 's office to order about the list.

His comments follow the publication of a list of 26 people being investigated by Mr. Amidu for various offenses.

It includes opposition figures such as former President John Mahama and Amidu's decision to prosecute some notable members of the CND, including the deputy of Bawku Central Mahama Ayariga.

The list also includes government appointees under the Akufo-Addo administration, such as the chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Company's board of directors and the national president of the ruling NDP MP, Freddie Blay.

Mr. Mahama is currently under investigation for "use of a public service for private purposes (misappropriation of $ 31 million of money from the OM Group Money Group)" .

But Bawa Motgari, who believes that "charity begins at home," does not agree with the name of the former president.

"We expect that more than anyone else, President Akufo-Addo will call the special prosecutor's office to order. I do not think that if the president were in a similar situation, he would take it with kindness. I believe that President Mahama is not either, "she said.

"… If you publish a list, go ahead, if you investigate, tell us where you are … you should even write out of respect …

"Are we saying that for two and a half years there have been no petitions on the corrupt activities of members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)," she said.

Bawa Motgari said that, just like Mueller's investigations in the United States that began with the activities and finances of President Donald Trump, Amidu should first focus on the members of the government to defend their arguments.

"I would have called the special prosecutor to say," If my people are corrupt, treat them, start the investigations … if I were the president, I would gladly call him [Amidu] and ask him questions about BOST, et al. so, please, take it seriously, "she said.

Ms. Bawa said, "It's all about perception and how you do these things. In any case, you want you to do your job.

"Let him do his job and do it effectively and avoid the propaganda we are seeing was reduced to this office."
