The Auditor General, Daniel Domelevo, has called on African countries to urgently and continuously share information and ideas on anti-corruption strategies and to stop "Looters of our resources and our cash flow".

Domelevo spoke at the 1st African Anti-Corruption Forum in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.

He addressed the topic "Ghana's efforts to implement continental and international commitments in the fight against corruption".

Among others, the A-G urged countries to urgently establish and fund independent and truly independent Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs).

SAIs, he said, understand illicit financial flows, transfer prices, etc., so that their empowerment "will save the fortunes of our respective countries".

He also advised state actors to meet regularly to discuss new methods of fighting corruption.

These meetings, he noted, will provide all stakeholders with the opportunity to adopt new techniques and reformulate their strategies to combat corruption-related activities.

He stressed the need to continuously educate citizens about the harms of corruption on the economy, including insecurity, and urged the media and civil society organizations to join the fight against corruption.

Domelevo badured the continent that Ghana's audit department is ready and willing to engage local and international institutions to create a united front to fight corruption and minimize it, in whatever form that is, and make it less attractive to potential authors.

In a philosophical tone, he concluded: "It's dangerous to fight against corruption, but it's even more dangerous not to fight it."
