Lil Wayne uses Lil Baby for the album 'Funeral & # 39;

XXL: Why did you choose to partner with American Eagle to introduce your Young Money brand to a new consumer group?

Lil Wayne: First of all, it's an ordinary place to live, you know? I've always thought that my brand was the average daily brand. I am not too high or too low. What do you respect Lil Baby as an artist?

Is there anything you do a little differently with this album compared to the last one you dropped, Tha Carter V?

For me, the novelty is to try to produce music that looks a little more like today's music. It means to me that the difference is to add square brackets. I forget the hooks. I forget them. Someone must come into the cabin and prevent me from hitting, like: "It's here that you stop and add a hook".

An excerpt from your remix of Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" was leaked on the internet on Monday. Is it an official remix?

They sent it to me and I did it as an official remix. I do not know if they would use it.

You have a lot of # 1 songs in your career. Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" is about to break the group's longest song record at number 1 of the Billboard Hot 100 with 16 weeks. It's just started. What advice would you give Lil Nas X on navigation in the music business?

Stay focused. When you beat that record, make sure it's not a record for you. Make sure you do not even realize it and do not recognize it at all. Put that in your head that someone else broke that record and want to break their record. Clear and simple. Because I can not even tell you if I was # 1 in the charts because it never mattered. The only thing that should ever count, my brother, is your next song.

Are there new rappers on your radar right now?

There are a lot of rappers, all the ones I like. The City Girls. I live in Miami so I hear a lot. I love the way they say what they want, do what they want. They also remind me a lot of old Miami music. Trina, a lof of this type of music. We miss it. Also Kash doll. I love Kash Doll because she spits. She may be playing on the song because the song is what she is, but when you catch her in her area, she is in her area.

What are your plans for the Young Money label this year? Are there new artists we should be looking for?

The entire team. I do not know anything new in your eyes or in your ears when it comes to social media. But other than that, the whole team is a bit new. Everyone who comes out will be like a new team. You have Vice Versa, you have Hoodybaby, you have Jay Jones, you have Euro. And you already know the queen, it's her throne. Mrs Nicki [Minaj]. Why do you think Nicki Minaj has managed to maintain the longevity of his career?

She does it like me. She does not pay attention to what others are doing. She makes sure she's the best every day. I told him to do that. She has put the best foot forward and continues to move forward.

You mentioned that it was important for you to keep in touch with young people, especially since you have children. Has any of your children shown an interest in rap?

So they all have a different interest in how they're interested in it, but it's actually my youngest, Meatball. It is he who sends me his bars, it is he who puts the rap together.

Do you give him advice on his bars up to now?
