The opposition, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), said the restricted voter registration exercise, which had just ended, was surrounded by enormous challenges.
This, added the party, prevented many qualified voters from signing up during the exercise.
Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, party election director, signed a statement: "The exercise was fraught with widespread irregularities and daunting challenges that prevented most qualified voters from accessing registration services.
"These observations throughout the country, especially in the NDC bastions, serve to justify our suspicions of collusion between certain EC officials and elements of the ruling NPP party, to repress the process in our bastions, "the statement added.
Prior to the start of the registration process, the NDC had expressed a great deal of concern about the modalities that the Electoral Commission intended to use for registration.
One of these was the EC's online registration system which, according to the party, was not designed for mbad registration and any attempt to use it for that purpose would create a functionality problem.
"The EC treated this opinion with contempt," Afriyie Ankrah said in a statement.
If the party's concerns had been taken into account, the NDC said the chaotic scenes and overcrowding in most centers, which provoked many clashes and intimidation, could have been avoided.
"Some people posing as EC officials have been seen recording people in their vehicles and in other dark corners. A leader of GIMPA TESCON was arrested and handed over to the police for investigation. "
