Course of action Star Martin Compston has hit back at false claims made about the fertility of his wife, Tianna Flynn.
Martin Compston, who plays DS Steve Arnott in the hit crime drama Line of Duty, has hit back at false reports about his wife’s fertility. He released a statement via Twitter with the caption: “I understand things are stepped up with Line of Duty, but this type of journalism needs to be called out, I will continue to do this when it affects those around me.”
The star’s statement fully explained the incident. “A totally bogus, inaccurate and hurtful article about me and my wife [Tianna Flynn] appeared in the press today written by a freelance journalist with the headline, “Compston reveals he and his wife have had fertility issues”. This false information was mistakenly assumed from a Radio 2 interview I did yesterday in which no such issue was mentioned. No attempt was made to verify the prepublication, ”Martin said.

In the statement, Martin went on to say that although the original digital copy has been removed, the printed copy of this article still exists and is still frustrating for his family. He went on to say that this type of inaccurate journalism is extremely reckless and can be seriously damaging to those involved.
Martin said: “This kind of reckless, lazy and deceptive journalism has caused unnecessary distress in an already difficult time. Luckily my wife and I have never had the pain of fertility issues, but we have friends who have and it’s heartbreaking. This is not something that should be used to generate inaccurate click bait titles. “
Martin later released a second statement which concluded his thoughts on this incident. He reiterated that if a similar incident happened again, he would not hesitate to speak out. “I appreciate that the press has a job to do, the media have always been honest with me. I do however like to reiterate any sensationalist / inaccurate story about our privacy that causes distress to my family, I will not hesitate to report it or take any other action necessary. Thank you, ”he said.

Fans took to his Twitter to support the Line of Duty star who fought back. One fan said: “Good for you, you’ve handled this impeccably, and as a person with fertility issues, I really, really appreciate your position on this.”
Another said, “Well said Martin, done with great dignity and grace. The nature of your job doesn’t mean the media has a good idea of your life. Huge respect for your handling of it. Best wishes to you and your family. “
