Lionel Messi revealed that his son taunted him by saying "I am Liverpool" whenever the two players play football together.

The Barcelona captain was defeated by the Reds in this year's UEFA Champions League semi-finals, a competition that the Premier League team won with a 2-0 win over Tottenham in the final.

Messi scored twice against Jurgen Klopp's team in the first leg at Camp Nou, including a magnificent free kick. The La Liga champions took a 3-0 lead in the return leg at Anfield.

However, the Spanish giants could not take advantage of this advantage, as Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum scored two goals apiece to give Liverpool a 4-0 win and a 4-3 victory in total.

Previously, Messi had not hidden how painful this loss was, but it seems that the winner of the Gold Ball, which has been five times rewarded, feels little sympathy at home.

Lionel Messi admitted that the defeat against Liverpool was painful

The 31-year-old, who has three sons, revealed how his companion Mateo (born in 2015) was using Klopp's sides to taunt his father when they played together.

"We played at home and the last time we talked about it, he said to me," I'm Liverpool, I beat you, "said Messi. TyCSports , via the echo of Liverpool.

"You are Barca and I am Liverpool."

Since his debut in Barcelona's first squad in 2004, Messi has established himself as one of the best players in his history.

In 687 appearances with the Spanish giants, the Argentine striker scored 603 goals and won several trophies at Camp Nou, including ten league titles, six Copa del Reys and four crowns of the Champions League.

But rather than simply following his father's team, Messi also admitted that Mateo was known to cheer on his rival Real Madrid in an attempt to upset his older brother, Thiago.

"He's watching TV and screaming for Real Madrid," added the Argentine captain.

"He does it on purpose against his brother.

"Everybody looks at Madrid, he scores, Thiago gets angry and Mateo throws himself like a glove for Madrid!"
