Lionel Messi is the highest paid player on the planet, with an incredible 7.3 million pounds per month before tax, nearly double Cristiano Ronaldo's at Juventus.

In the team's annual salary report, the French newspaper revealed which are the 10 best paid European footballers who earn their monthly salary before taxes.

Of these 10 players, five play in Spain, a couple plays respectively in France and England, while the single player is in Italy.

It's no secret that gamers nowadays are getting huge amounts of money, but the amount Messi receives each month is extraordinary – even by football standards.

Barcelona's talisman signed a new contract in November 2017 that propelled it to the top of the list, ahead of long-time rival Ronaldo, who was earning 4.1 million pounds ($ 4.7 million). 39 euros) one month before tax.

Surprisingly, Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid comes in third and earns £ 2.9m (€ 3.3m) a month after renewing his contract, announced before this summer's World Cup.

Neymar, from Paris Saint-Germain, follows Griezmann with a reported monthly profit of £ 2.7m (€ 3.06m), while Luis Suarez completes the top 5 with a monthly salary of £ 2.5m (2, € 9 million).
