New Patriotic Party (NPP) Volta regional chairman Makafui Woanyah advised his fellow patriots to accept the president’s candidates for the posts of chief of the metropolitan, municipal and district executive.
He called for calm before the announcement of the candidates, following the announcement of disturbances and agitations at the base of the party over an alleged list.
“Let’s avoid acrimony and resentment,” he said in a press release copied to Myjoyonline.
He clarified that President Akufo-Addo has full responsibility for appointing people he deems fit and resourceful to help him “fulfill his mandate and transformative agenda.”
“The opportunity to serve is therefore a privilege and not a do-or-die affair,” he said, urging party members to support candidates in the performance of their duties, once confirmed.
He felt that there would be opportunities for all loyalists to serve in government, once the party remained in power, so instructed them to engage in the NPP’s “Breaking the 8” mantra.
“There will always be a better tomorrow. The longer we stay in power, the greater the opportunities and the chance for all of us to take our turn ”.
“There will be no winners or losers in this process. Those who are appointed will need our prayers and all of us to be successful, ”Woanyah said.
He congratulated the candidates, pledging his greatest support to each of them in his jurisdiction to be confirmed by their respective assemblies.
“I also urge us to be measured, magnanimous and benevolent in our reactions to nominations later today,” he concluded.
