Japanese Breakfast delivered a cover of Sufjan Stevens’ track ‘Romulus’ from her 2003 album’ Michigan ‘.

Recorded for SiriusXMU, the acoustic cover stays true to Stevens’ folkloric original, with Michelle Zauner’s vocals just as floating above the light guitar and piano.

Zauner’s cover of “Romulus” follows a recent live performance of Dolly Parton’s “Here You Come Again”, performed on tour. Also on a trip to the United States, his former workplace in Philadelphia, Union Transfer, renamed his locker room in honor of Zauner.
Japanese Breakfast released their third studio album, “Jubilee”, in June. The disc received four stars from NME on its release and described as “a brilliantly forward-thinking coup to create pure joy”.
“Having made a name for himself writing about the most difficult subjects possible, Zauner here proves that it is within your reach to derive joy from this pain even when it seems impossible.”
Japanese Breakfast performed songs from the album live for Tonight’s Show with Jimmy Fallon and CBS this morning.
Elsewhere this year, Zauner published his memoir Crying in H Mart, which should be suitable for cinema. Its soundtrack for independent play Sable is also due out in September.
