The parliamentary minority is calling on Ghanaians to give the Democratic National Congress (CDN) an opportunity by 2020, as they are the only ones to liberate the country from the economic hardships that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has inflicted on it.
At a press conference on the true state of the economy, minority spokesperson on finances, Cbadiel Ato Forson hinted that the former Mahama government had never lied to Ghanaians, as the New Patriotic Party suggested.
According to him, NDC has always told the truth to Ghanaians about the economy, unlike the government in place who used lies and propaganda to make their way to power.
"I want to say that the NDC was truthful; we did not mention, we did not do propaganda, we told the Ghanaians the truth about the true state of the economy. We have let you know that some policies are temporal. We pbaded laws with sunset clauses to remove them, which was obvious to show our commitment to these policies. Unfortunately, at the time, you were not listening. Some of us were only interested in propaganda and the lies of the opposition of the time, so we fell into the trap. Most Ghanaians have fallen for it. unfortunately, reality is watching us. So, at least we told the truth and you will agree with me that we were the truth, "he said.
Ato Forson also blamed the cedi's depreciation and the economic difficulties Ghanaians are currently facing with the government's mismanagement of the economy and the bad political choices made since taking office.
He said the sharp depreciation of the cedi had hurt the country's economy, leading to bankruptcy of companies, job losses and a loss of investor confidence.
Asked what the Akufo-Addo-led government has done since taking power with lies and propaganda, Ato Forson said, "I also want to know from His Excellency the President, he has been in power for two good years. years. he has until now made to change the structure of the economy contrary to his promise. To change the structure, a district, a factory and all that, they did nothing. And planting for food and employment is only propaganda.
"It is clear that this government is stuck in a corner where it can not go out and that the investor is not happy, I am not happy, the stakeholders of this country, none of us are happy, "he added.
Ato Forson therefore called on Ghanaians to think twice and to give up the NPP's power by 2020, because the ruling party does not have what it takes to manage the economy.
According to Ato Forson, Ghanaians must fire the nuclear plant, as the NDC is the only hope for the country's economy.
"We are calling on the people of Ghana to listen carefully because we know that the NDC is the alternative. At a minimum, we will be honest with you and very honest with you and we will do what is right to save the country, "said Ato Forson.
