Cape Coast Metropolitan Archbishop Gabriel Palmer-Buckle told Ghanaians to live by the principles of probity, transparency and the crusade of accountability championed by former President Jerry John Rawlings.
He said it was the best way to remember the late founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Delivering a sermon at a Requiem Mass for the late former President on Sunday, January 24, Palmer-Buckle said, “The time has come to look with different and impartial eyes on his personal crusade for probity, transparency and accountability. responsibility.
“Let us take an oath today in the presence of God to work conscientiously to establish these virtues of probity, responsibility and transparency in our own individual lives and in the social and political life and service of our country, Ghana.
“It will be the most worthy legacy and monument we can build in his name.”
He further advised the family of late former President Jerry John Rawlings to rely on Jesus Christ whenever they miss their deceased loved one.
He said he would certainly miss his wife and children because they knew him more than anyone.
Mr. Palmer-Buckle said: “At this point, allow me to address you young people here especially Zanetor, Yaa Asantewaa, Amina and Kimathi.
“Jerry, your dear father is gone. You will miss him very much because only you knew him differently from all the other people.
“Dear Madame Nana Konadu, you will be sadly missed with whom you share more than six decades of life. I hear it all started even earlier at Achimota School. No one knew Jerry better than you.
“God gave it to you and you loved him and shared his dreams and his life plans. Our Lord Jesus Christ the Savior is at your side and he tells you that dear family, bless you who cry because you will be comforted. May God comfort you, never forget to pray in times of loneliness and grief.
The Requiem Mass was attended by dignitaries including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and former President John Dramani Mahama.
It was held at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Accra.
Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife Samira Bawumia also attended the event.
